Maryland General Hospital offers patients of all ages a full spectrum of services, from primary eye care -- routine examinations and contact lens fittings -- to advanced specialty care and surgery. The hospital sponsors patients in the Friedenwald Eye Clinic at Maryland General Hospital and provide 24-hour emergency consultation through the emergency room for all eye problems. We provide diagnosis and treatment for all eye disorders including glaucoma, strabismus, cornea and vascular diseases.
Maryland General has the latest in technological advances, including new technology to treat glaucoma, the Selecta 7000, a procedure using an advanced laser to clean debris blocking the eye filter and improving its function. Selective trabeculoplasty, can be repeated if warranted, unlike the usual laser treatment of glaucoma.
The recent addition of Digital Fluorescein Angiography technology allows for "real time" diagnosis and treatment of many retinal vascular disorders, including some forms of Macular Degeneration.
